The CycloDS Evolution Card for Nintendo DS & DS Lite is a popular slot-1 flash cart solution that allows you to launch games, run applications and play media directly from the device. Simply place your files onto either a micro SD or SDHC memory card (sold separately), insert the micro SD into your CycloDS, your cart into your DS, and turn the system on. When updated with the latest firmware, the CycloDS Evolution offers the following functionality:
- Completely plug & play - no FlashMe, PassMe or PC software required.
- 100% game compatibility, supports clean ROMs - works on any OS.
- Full NDS download play support.
- Action Replay compatible. Comes bundled with cheat codes for over 300 games!
- Both FAT16 and FAT32 MicroSD formats supported.
- Supports the MicroSDHC specification, allowing for high capacity memory cards.
- Save type is automatically detected.
- Save directly to MicroSD rather than onboard flash.
- User-friendly, easily skinnable interface. Both touch screen and button operation supported.
- Multi-lingual user interface.

A great flashcart that has served me well

I got the CycloDS back in 2008, and in 2011 it's working as good as new! For most of the time there were constant firmware updates, the menus were simple and easy to navigate, and it added a lot of features such as GBA support (if you own an EZ Flash 3in1, any model), real-time saving, and bookmarks! Now, there was a period when Team Cyclops didn't release a lot of stable updates for a few months, but it did supply the occasional beta firmware release every so often. The newer games not being supported didn't bother me because I just buy retail games instead of pirating them, so I played on those in the meantime. However, that wait paid off because Team Cyclops was hard at work on making a DSi-compatable flashcart that lets you run games in DSi-mode! Firmware updates are now just as constant as they used to be, and I'm very pleased with the new GUI design that's just as fast and has more features than before.
The build quality is very professional, and the microSD card slot isn't spring-loaded and it fits in very snugly, so it doesn't fall out when I turn my DS upside-down like other carts. The microSD card USB reader that came with it died after a year or so, however, so I had to buy a new reader. Besides that, I have no complaints and I applaud Team Cyclops for their awesome work! If you have the spare cash, you won't be disappointed!

Had one of these for years. If you have a DS Lite it's a perfect partner - loads of features, slot 2 support, cheats etc. VERY reliable, never failed in all the time I had it. Now have a DSi so mine is retired; if you have the old DS Lite then this cart is 100% recommended.

If it only worked on a DSi....

This card is great. I had a friend that visited China for the Olympics some time ago, and he came back with an R4 card. I was very very impressed. I went away and did a little bit of research, and, as another reviewer stated earlier R4 firmware updates had crawled to a complete stop. I found the CycloDS was the only card (at the time) manufactured outside of Asia, and that the firmware support was solid. Most of the other cards at the time were very cheap R4 clones. If a game comes out that cannot be started on the CycloDS, then a firmware update is usually only a day or two away, even if it is only a beta. The only reason I would not give this card 5 stars is because of its inability to be used on a DSi, although preliminary testing has produced a few positive results, which can be viewed on youtube here:

Basically, if you are going to get a card, and you still have an original NDS or NDS Lite, than this is the card to get. If you have a newer handheld system, then maybe you should look at another card until they can get the compatibility working with the second gen systems.

Two Years Later, Works Like a Dream

I picked up my first CycloDS in the summer of 2008. Since that time, numerous firmware upgrades and feature additions have made the card a near-permanent fixture in my DS Lite. At Christmas I picked up two more for my kids.
The manufacturer support on this card is awesome--and Team Cyclo speaks coherent English, which is a huge bonus.
I have heard good things about many cards, but never anything that would persuade me to give up my CycloDS.

CycloDS Evolution is a multi-functional Micro SD adapter for NDS and NDS Lite (Slot 1) which allows you to play games, listen to MP3's, view images, read e-books and enjoy the vast collection of homebrew applications for NDS. Best choice in my life

I've had this cart for over a year and all i can say is that this is one of the best flashcarts on the market.
It has great compatibility with my backups and with the new GUI coming soon the flexibility of it is grea. The only con is that it does not support dsi/xl, which is not a major problm.

Bought by CycloDS last year and I haven't had any problems with it whatsoever. Excellent game compatibility, and very quick firmware updates for games that don't work.
This is a premium flashcart with premium support... highly recommended!

You could get an R4DS with Wood for $6
You could get an Acekard2i for $15
You could get a supercarddstwo for $35
you get a cycloDS for $45!?
in my opinion R4Wood is better than this.
the CycloDS hasn't been getting any firmware updates.
It can't really do fancy stuff like play GBA games, play newer games, you know.
I meen you could buy a SupercardDStwo + 4GB MicroSD for this ammount.
So, i suggest this is a no-buy.

I got the CycloDS back in 2008, and in 2011 it's working as good as new! For most of the time there were constant firmware updates, the menus were simple and easy to navigate, and it added a lot of features such as GBA support (if you own an EZ Flash 3in1, any model), real-time saving, and bookmarks! Now, there was a period when Team Cyclops didn't release a lot of stable updates for a few months, but it did supply the occasional beta firmware release every so often. I've had this cart for over a year and all i can say is that this is one of the best flashcarts on the market.
